Virtual Red Tent New Moon Ceremony(1).png

It all started when…

A month before I moved to Denver from Athens, GA in 2014, I met with a dear friend and psychic to have coffee and chat. Our chat was interrupted as the lights in the home flickered and turned off, and my friend was jolted into trance as she began to channel a message for me. Among many of the things she shared, she told me that I would eventually be doing birth work and working with grids, somehow involving trees. I sat with this message and felt that it would be a few years before I understood what was being tasked of me, but I felt the importance. It also came as no surprise as my surname is Ogletree, that I would be working energetically with trees in some way.

I moved to Denver and discovered my passion for the Red Tent, the Blood Mysteries, and sharing with women the magic of menstruation. A prophecy passed around the Red Tent that I always deeply felt states that there will be peace again when all women are giving their blood back to the Earth in a sacred way. I knew that teaching women how to give their blood back and connect with it as a sacred, alchemical substance was what I was brought here to share.

As the years progressed and my path went through phases of expansion and contraction, the channeling from my friend was always in the back of my mind. I taught women to give their blood back to the land and the trees on that land. We gathered in my backyard and many women gave their blood to an old apple tree, the tree of the Goddess. Instinctively, we were drawn to this sacred keeper of the breath, these ancient beings, the Trees. Click. There it was, a grid of the intentions from all our sheds. A grid connecting earth, her trees, her plants, with sacred moon blood. Each woman who made the choice to give her blood to the earth, after most likely MANY generations since that was done in her lineage, was reviving these leylines with her Peaceful offering. Through the Trees, we could root our prayers of Peace deep into the Earth.

You can see one of the apple tree’s branches in the top of this photo, with our backyard Red Tent set up in the height of summer 2016.

The gridwork was already being laid, with each woman who learned this practice in the Red Tent. What if these places that had been given blood were marked on a map on the Earth, so we could actually see the impact of our offerings. What land on this Earth is presently being touched and nourished by the sacred blood of life?

But giving your blood back and working with your blood in ceremony is a deeply personal experience for each woman. I never wanted to poke and prod to take the actual physical steps to enacting the sharing of places they’ve given their blood that are deeply private and sacred to women. How could I ask them to map it out for the rest of the world to see? But the Goddess beckons, shamelessly, undoubtedly sure of Her vision. As COVID-19 began shaking the world up in 2020, the call became even stronger for me to follow. It was time to step up as a steward of this gridwork on the Earth. All of this leads now to my asking.

If you have ever given your blood on the Earth, I ask you to share with me where. If it was years ago, months ago, yesterday- any and all the places you are willing to share. I will take all submissions and place them onto the Map below, giving us a visual representation of the impact we are making in returning the blood of peace to the Earth.

More than ever, is women’s non-violent, mineral rich and life giving blood needed to be given to the Earth in peace. To revive the soil, to revive our soul. This is my mission, and you are invited to join.

Shares from Participants: How has giving your blood back to the Earth affected you?

Giving my blood allows me to feel deeply connected to being of service to Pachamama, the rise of the divine feminine, and honoring the sacred teachings of our ancient ways.

I felt connected to the Earth, my body, and the divine.

I will practice this shortly for the first time- I already know that this will feel as sweet as the sound of breaking chains.

Offering my blood to Holy Mother, as earth and sea, has been a sacred act of revolution, rebellion, and magick to me for 30 years. I have offered my holy blood to Her in both ecstasy and deepest grief, and during moments of the deepest magick I’ve ever experienced. I’ve offered the first blood of my womb after giving birth to my son, as well as along with widow grieving and my husband’s ashes. I’ve offered my blood in earth healing rites and lunar ceremonies. Solo and with my sistars in scarlet ceremony.

To offer our blood to the Earth our Mother is a sacrament on high, of the most potent vibration. Our blood is sacred, beautiful, lunar, ancient, holy female power.

Giving back my blood has been a truly healing experience.
— Sydney Z.
I believe that when I give blood to the earth, there is less blood shed through wars. When I give blood I feel as though my blood is a substitute for the innocent blood shed.
— Mara H.
I have done this for many years, first in Portland and now in Norway for the last 5 years. 3 years ago, my children’s father died from his addictions. we decided to plant a small oak tree in his honor so my children would have somewhere to sit and chat with him as they grow up. We were never told where he is buried...long story, lots of dysfunction and hurt we are all trying to heal from. I pour my blood over the roots of that tree not to help it grow into a big, strong, oak. This is my ritual to heal all that has been broken through so many generations of addiction, abuse, and pain. This is the pattern we are breaking now in our family. We heal ourselves, and we heal Mother Earth. I know his soul is finally healing now too.
— Trista H.
Giving my blood back has made me feel like I am a part of a bigger global cause. I know that through my blood I am slowly bringing peace to Gaia and her children. I am connected and inspired to know that my blood is her blood and that what comes from her, from US, must return.
— Christina M.
It has really driven home my connection to the Earth. Whenever I ground into the womb network in meditation I feel so much more connected and I can feel that connection stronger than before. I know I am fully apart of that network and that it is always there for me.
— Angela E.
I love to just sit and bleed into the Earth fully on my days. I love to watch it seep and return, whether directly on decomposing leaves on the ground, a crack in a moss covered rock, or running down the gnarly branch of a majestic juniper oozing resurrection fern.
— Tina P.
I’m just beginning in this process. I wondered if I would know how to do it “right”.... where to place? How to speak? But as I stood in my backyard with the garden I just built and wildlife chirping and a soft breeze moving through the leaves, I realized I needn’t have worried. There was a small tree... a tree I thought was dead but recently grew leaves. A late bloomer. This tree felt special and I just felt gratitude. I offered my blood and said “ I don’t know what I am doing, but thank you. I am so grateful for this experience of aliveness.” I knew it could have been much more elegant but I’m so thankful to have been guided to try this ritual and excited to continue my connection with Earth in this way. If it can help bring peace to our world even in the smallest of ways, it would be my honor.
— Sara W.
Healing. Connecting. Ancestral healing. Facing my fears. Loving myself. Knowing who I am. Receiving the care I needed in my deepest time of need.
— Torie F.
For several years I would visit a juniper tree at White Lake that spoke to me as the place for returning blood to the Earth ritual. I went all the way around the tree as the months went by and began to notice new plant life emerging. The practice is very grounding and nurturing to the lineage. Living and those that have crossed over.
— Suzanne M.
Giving my blood is a powerful catalyst to connect deeper to prayer and ritual by infusing my intentions into my blood before I give it back to the earth. A beautiful way to deepen my connection and communication with the earth, and an offering to give back to plant friends who nourish and nurture me- I feel through this ritual I have an ongoing conversation with the great mother we have the opportunity to continue every moon cycle.
— Samantha B.
I so greatly honor mother Gaia.
— Heidi K.
Giving my blood back has helped me feel more connected with the land, as well as an involvement in positive change for the land.
— Julia H.
It fills me with love and gratitude when I have the opportunity to give my blood back to the earth. My body was able to create that blood because of nourishment from the earth. Each time I gave my blood to the earth I felt a sense of peace and connectedness to earth’s cycles. I felt like I was able to connect with my path in life through having a powerful connection to the earth. I felt at home.
— Raven R.
I am more connected to the land I love on and all the plant spirits. I have taught this practice for many years in my Red Tent and have seen many magical moments of women connecting to Mother Earth. I release for the collective all the womb trauma and for our mother line so all the daughters to come will be set free. This is one of the most sacred practices a woman can do.
— Samantha L.
I’ll never forget the first time I gave my blood to the earth while trekking in the mountains. It helped me understand that I am part of our mother earth, and we are all her creation.
— Mary M.
Giving my blood back helped me to create a deeper relationship with my blood through honoring her sacred power, and by deepening my relationship with Earth as she transmutes that which I give in release into nurturance for the whole planet.
— Anu S.
When I give my blood I feel peace. I feel connected to Mother Earth, the divine feminine, and all my sisters who give their blood. I also feel as through I am supporting the rise of the divine masculine, giving my peacefully shed blood to lessen the need for our brothers’ blood to be shed in violence.
— Amanda Joy B.
Giving my blood makes me feel protected and the land around me protected. It’s an honoring back to the momma planet. It’s a sacred practice of reciprocity.
— Jess K.
I have come to understand what sovereignty is through giving my blood back to the Earth. It is a ceremony of ancestral resilience and connection for me. As I inform the earth with my blood, my fountain of life, the earth is informing me too. It is a giving and receiving of intelligence and trust in the natural world. Menstrual blood is alive and transcends time and space. My blood is her blood is your blood. When I pour blood into the Earth, I am creating a portal for my womb to remember the Earth’s song that is always singing inside of me.
— Eliza S.
My heart is bursting open and I feel a resounding, deep sense of peace and connection with Mama Gaia.
— Sam L.
It has helped me transmute negative energy that no longer serves me to positive. And with the growing situation I offered my blood to help heal those who are sick with the virus. To protect my husband and all who work in the health care system.
— Maria B.
Giving my blood back reunited me with my connection to Mother Earth.
— Christina B.
I felt a deep connection to Gaia but also a sense of repeating a ritual I’ve done before, eons before the current time. A sort of connection with my ancestors’ way, back to cave times, as if we were doing it together in different times. Every time I do it I have a sense of wholeness and that truly my cycle only them is complete and ready to transmute to the cycle of mother nature. I feel like I’m honoring my existence by offering my sap so that other trees may grow and produce their own sap. I really resonate with that ancient wisdom that says we women were once trees so that we could escape and stand tall in times of war amongst men. It’s all very magical and yet rooted very deep inside.
— Rita R.
Giving my blood feels cyclical, sacred, like consecrating wine.
— Jenny W.
Giving my blood to Gaia helps me to feel more connected to her and that my blood is a gift fro the cosmos of my womb in search of grounding on this planet. I feel myself and my structures release all that no longer serves, creating space for me to create again.
— Stacie H.
I have been able to create deep relationship with Mother Earth and her womb <3 I have also experienced these tree’s and lakes that I have given my blood to speaking to me and calling me to them when I needed to visit.
— Lauren H.
Giving my blood back to the Earth has connected me to Mother Gaia in a way that feels ancient, ancestral, healing, and completely natural. I feel a oneness with the trees and the Earth and feel worthy of the bountiful blessings of this planet when I share my shed with the natural world.
— Vanessa J.
Just the simple offering to the sacred Mother, in hopes of healing her wounds. To connect with my beloved ancestors and add my essence back to the Earth. I also love growing my plants with my blood. This is truly a magnificent project.
— Megan K.
It felt sacred. It was an offering of gratitude. I felt I honored Mother Earth with my life blood and love.
— Kristin J.
Giving my blood is very healing. It puts me into connection with the spirits of the land, and my ancestors. When I give my blood back to the Earth, I am at one with the rhythm of the land and the cosmos.
— Melanie P.
Giving by blood back has given me a deeper connection to the Earth and empowered me to feel like I matter, my blood and life matter.
— Brooke B.
Offering my blood back to the Earth has helped me create a devotional relationship with my menstrual cycle. It has helped me honor and respect my body on a deeper level, and understand my cycle as powerful medicine. It has helped me be more aware of my blood, and has made me be more aware of my footprint and relationship with the Earth. What am I feeding her? What am I doing to show my respect, reverence, and deep gratitude? Offering my blood is a way that I can feel I can give back a small piece of what the Earth has given me. Offering my blood also makes me feel connected to my answers, and that the Earth can transmute and read the prayers, pains, and everything else my blood carries that I may not be able to speak or that I’m not paying attention to. It is a spiritual practice that keeps me connected and grounded.
— Danny P.
I felt a reconnection to the Earth and understood the sacredness of my blood.
— Jenny G.
I’ve done it at my backyard every moonblood since 2014. I use cotton menstrual towels, and even when I travel I save them until I am home. For me it is so sacred, and I have not felt yet any other place to offer Her than my home. The positive effect was to reconnect in a deep way with the sacredness of my body, sacredness of life, and all that represents our moon blood. Also, getting conscious of offering with so much love to Mother Earth.
— Marya P.
It has given me hope as I put love into action.
— S.C.
I make an opening prayer and begin a conversation with the Earth. I offered my blood as a gesture of thankfulness for the Earth’s infinite teachings and ways of supporting me, as a way of connecting to my maternal lineage and bringing back the teaching of my ancestors. I feel the sacredness of my cycle and blood and the connection to the cycles of the Earth through it.
— Christina L.
It feels good to fertilize my plants- my food, and my medicine, with my blood.
— Sarah M.
The ways giving my blood back to the earth have affected me are endless. This practice has connected me deeper to my body, my power, my primal nature, and my creative life force. It has reminded me of living cyclically and honoring my body and womanhood. It has catalyzed phenomenal change in my life and answered deep prayers. It gives me a way to commune with the Earth, to be in sacred reciprocity and exchange. Giving my blood back to the Earth has without a doubt been the most profoundly healing practice that I have discovered on my path.

Most people have the idea that our blood is an unpleasant waste from the body, what they have not realized is that thanks to it we are here, what they find unpleasant is what, at the time, was used and we gave life. Our blood is another opportunity to give or continue to give life outside our body, to return to our beautiful Gaia what it has given us ... THE LIFE. By giving up the sacred that my body has given back is to reconnect with my roots with my essence, to feel part of nature.
